About Homestead Ledger
Homestead Ledger explains Florida property taxes in plain English and puts official numbers for all 67 counties in one place.
Property tax in Florida is local. The rules are statewide, but the rates, deadlines in practice and the people you deal with are county by county. Most of the official information lives in PDFs and on 67 different property appraiser and tax collector websites. We gather it, check it, and present it in a form a homeowner can use in five minutes.
What we publish
- County data computed from the Florida Department of Revenue's county profiles.
- Calculators that show the math, so you can check it.
- Guides to exemptions, appeals and payment, written from Florida statutes and property appraiser guidance.
- Coverage of changes such as Amendment 3 on the November 2026 ballot, with both sides of the debate.
Independence
Homestead Ledger is independent. We are not a government agency, law firm, or tax advisory service, and we don't take a position on ballot measures. The site is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we write.
